Search visibility now comes with a growing vocabulary. SEO means search engine optimization. AEO usually means answer engine optimization. GEO usually means generative engine optimization. Agencies also use AIO, with definitions that vary.
Before buying a programme under any of these names, ask what will change on your website, which platforms it addresses, and how the work will be measured.
Start with what the platforms say
Google’s current guidance treats optimization for its generative search experiences as part of SEO. Its recommendations emphasize original, useful content and a clear technical foundation. Special AI text files and special schema are not necessary for Google Search visibility. Read Google’s official generative AI optimization guide.
Bing likewise connects AI discovery with its crawling, indexing, and quality foundations. Its guidelines discourage manipulated citations, unnatural language, and content produced without sufficient original value. See the Bing Webmaster Guidelines.
These are reasons to inspect the substance of a proposal rather than judge it by the newest acronym.
Map the questions behind a purchase
Make a list from actual sales conversations. What does the service include? Who is it suitable for? What affects the cost? What does implementation require? Which alternatives should a buyer consider?
Then check whether your site answers those questions.
For example, “we build business automations” introduces a category. A page explaining the inputs, review steps, exceptions, ownership, and maintenance of an enquiry workflow helps someone decide whether it fits their business.
Use the evidence you can stand behind
Add genuine examples, clearly labelled demonstrations, product details, process explanations, and informed comparisons. Distinguish things you have tested from things you recommend trying.
If you have no publishable client results, you can still explain your approach precisely. An honest walkthrough has more practical value than an impressive claim that cannot be checked.
Arrange the page so a visitor can locate the answer easily. Use headings that describe the question and tables only where a comparison becomes clearer.
Check whether your content is accessible
A useful page cannot help discovery if important content is blocked or difficult to reach. Review crawl access, indexability, navigation, broken links, mobile usability, and the content visitors actually receive.
Keep business descriptions and key facts consistent across the website and profiles you control. Treat these as maintenance tasks with owners, not a one-time launch exercise.
Measure business value alongside visibility
Track relevant enquiries and customer actions as well as traffic. Review available search and AI visibility reports, but understand what each number includes. A citation, a visit, and a qualified enquiry are different events.
Keep a record of your changes and allow enough time to assess them. Avoid claiming a small movement proves that one tactic caused the result.
Choose your next work by finding the largest gap between a customer’s question and your best available answer. That gives SEO, AEO, or GEO a concrete business purpose.
We help turn practical questions into a focused plan and useful implementation.
